Summary[]
A.J. and his friends get a Personal Digital Assistant named Miss Porter as a substitute teacher, who can do anything like order pizza and tell endless jokes, but grows power-hungry when her system is changed and tries to take over Ella Mentry Elementary School. She eventually disappears thanks to Andrea and A.J., and is also fired by Dr.Carbles.
Plot[]
The book starts with AJ complaining about how he hates washing his hands. At school, Mr.Cooper tells his class that he will be out for a week as he is visiting Spain to meet his sister, much to everyone's dismay. On Monday, when AJ gets to school, he sees no teacher. Therefore, he and his friends do what they do whenever there are no teachers: get on their chairs and shake their butts. Suddenly, a voice tells them to stop doing that. Everyone is startled because no one is there. AJ asks who it is, to which the voice says she is Miss Porter. Later, Dr.Carbles comes in and warns the students that they should listen to Miss Porter or they will be in trouble. After he leaves, Miss Porter does so many things that students like, such as ordering pizza and telling jokes. Due to this, AJ cannot wait to go to school on Tuesday, much to his mother's confusion. However, he and his friends are horrified when three teachers are fired as they will be replaced to personal digital assistants. Not only that, but also Miss Porter tells them that they will study, much to everyone's shock. They complain about Miss Porter, saying that she did all that fun things so that they would like her. She even spies on the students wherever they are. The next day during class, Andrea asks Miss Porter if she can go to the bathroom to which she says yes. AJ finds this strange as Andrea never goes to the bathroom during class. When going out, Andrea leaves a tiny note on AJ's desk, which says: "Meet me out in the hallway." AJ asks Miss Porter if he can go to the bathroom as well, to which she says yes and AJ goes to the hallway. When Andrea goes somewhere else instead of the bathroom, AJ reminds her that it is not the way to the bathroom, to which she says they are not going there. It turns out that Andrea is going to the computer room so that she could disable Miss Porter. AJ is even more surprised because Andrea never breaks any rules, and starts to think that this is an emergency. Andrea tells AJ to watch how she disables Miss Porter, and finally says she is ready to hit the enter key. Suddenly, Miss Porter appears right in front of them, to AJ and Andrea's surprise. Miss Porter tells Andrea not to hit the key and no one will get hurt, to which Andrea retorts saying that Miss Porter will get hurt. She eventually hits the enter key, and Miss Porter starts to disable little by little. Soon, other students come into the computer room and find out what is going on. Then, Dr.Carbles comes in and asks Miss Porter what is going on, to which Miss Porter speaks gibberish. Having had enough, Dr.Carbles decides to fire Miss Porter, much to everyone's joy. After he leaves the computer room, Miss Porter's image disappears and everyone cheers. AJ wonders what would happen later on, such as the teachers who were fired getting their jobs back, ordering another pizza with a drone, Mr.Cooper solving his bladder problem,...etc.
