Arlo “AJ” Jervis is the main character in My Weird School, My Weird School Daze, My Weirder School, My Weirdest School, My Weirder-est School, My Weird School Special, and My Weird School Graphic Novel. He is the narrator of all books except "Back to School, Weird Kids Rule!" which was narrated by Andrea Young.

AJ hates school, dead fish, zombies, coffee, tests, books, toilet seats, germs, flowers, monster attacks, Andrea Young, October 30, ghosts, homework, being smart, snot, ferrets, plays, going to the dentist, indoor recess, rain, current events, asparagus, and everything that Andrea Young loves. Instead, he loves dirt bikes, pizza, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, football, action figures, skateboarding, video games, parents, and everything Andrea Young hates (except parents.) He hates, strongly dislikes, loathes, detests, and despises Andrea and her friend Emily. He has a crush on Mrs. Cooney. If you haven't learned about her, read Mrs. Cooney is Looney! He is friends with Michael, Ryan, Neil, and Alexia. Alexia is the only girl he is friends with as she is pretty cool even though she is a girl, and is a tomboy. He also takes idioms literally at times.
In most of the books, he is shown to be mischievous, immature, and naughty. Andrea always says he is immature when he says the wrong stuff. Whenever AJ is sad, he always wanted to "run away to Antarctica to live with the penguins". However, he is also shown to be loyal as well because of how he helped Andrea at certain times: When she almost drowned on the beach, he was the one who saved her. When she was hypnotized, he was the one who got her out of the trance. When she choked, he was the one who saved her by getting the food out of her throat. Since he did them even though he was reluctant to (mostly), it can be shown that he does make the right choice after all. Because of these times, though, Ryan and Michael constantly tease him about being in love with Andrea, proceeding to jokingly ask when they are going to get married. Not only when AJ does something nice to Andrea, but also they tease him even when AJ and Andrea are arguing. He gets annoyed whenever they tease him, to the point where he thinks he would hate them if they weren't his best friends. Also some people call the other person a dumbhead.
Even though it is not confirmed, it is possible that AJ may have somewhat become nicer in the special 'Bummer in the Summer!' since he decides not to say anything mean back to Andrea when he could have.
